I have been working as a tutor for the past seven years, working with students aged three to fifty. I have covered a wide range of qualification preparation and my focus is on the Humanities. As well as providing supplementary support to students, I have also undertaken homeschooling on a number of occasions, taking full responsibility for those students' covering the syllabus. This meant teaching at their homes very frequently, sometimes on a daily basis, and forging a good relationship with their families.

Biography:

I grew up on the outskirts of London, the youngest of three siblings by seven and ten years. I have always loved English but it was the influence of my sixth-form English teacher that made me decide to study it at university.

I grew up on the outskirts of London, the youngest of three siblings by seven and ten years. I have always loved English but it was the influence of my sixth-form English teacher that made me decide to study it at university. I subsequently read English Literature and Language at New College, Oxford. During vacations I either worked or went travelling. In my second year I was awarded a college grant to go to Italy and study art-history and, upon finishing my degree, I taught in Niger with a charity called TravelAid.

My degree at Oxford was thorough and stretching. I enjoyed the scope of period it offered, as well as the opportunity to engage with historical, linguistic and social context. In my teaching of Humanities subjects now, I constantly use the research and analysis skills I honed then.

Since graduating, I have taught many pupils, ranging in age from three to fifty and covering a wide range of qualification. As well as teaching, I work as an actor and producer, running my own theatre company and working as an Associate Director for an audio drama company. I also work as a writer, providing copy for companies that include the Times Online and the United Nations.

Personal Approach:

For me, the most important aspects of teaching are flexibility and sensitivity: I assess each student's unique requirements and tailor my lessons with them accordingly. As I have gained experience of a wide range of pupils, I have learned to recognise weakness and strength with accuracy.

For me, the most important aspects of teaching are flexibility and sensitivity: I assess each student's unique requirements and tailor my lessons with them accordingly. As I have gained experience of a wide range of pupils, I have learned to recognise weakness and strength with accuracy. I use this to hone my pupils' learning and help them achieve the best possible grades. I place a lot of emphasis on enjoyment of the texts but always with a very focused eye on translating that information into strong written work. My aim is to provide the support that my students need, in conjunction with their school work, to perform to the best of their ability.

What I do when not tutoring:

I have been working as an actress for the past four years, as well as running a theatre company and working as a copywriter. I am very conscientious with regards to fitting this around my students and always make sure that their learning needs are being met.

Outside of work, I am a keen traveller and love exploring new places. I also (perhaps predictably!) love to read and talk about reading, as well as cook, walk and draw.

I am currently studying for a Masters in Early Modern Text and Transmission at King's College, London.
