Experience:

• 7+ and 8+ examination preparation (Westminster Under)
• 11+ scholarship preparation (Wycombe Abbey)
• 13+ all subjects (preparation for Kings Taunton)

I worked in London prep schools from 2010 where there was a high demand for success in examinations. As I worked in Years 3 - 6 for the last 4 years I have been a part of a lot of preparation for 7+, 8+ and 11+ examinations. I feel confident that I know the ingredients needed for these examinations, for example reviewing past papers, the types of repeated questions and the method of answering these questions. I have tutored children from 4 - 13 (including a Wycombe Abbey Scholar). I have also enjoyed tutoring many children who simply need catching up due to a change in school, curriculum or country.

Biography:

I grew up in the country side and went to a boarding school, called Woldingham School, at the age of 11. After doing Biology, Economics, Art and Geography A levels I went onto Exeter university. Here I studied Geography and received a second class degree.

After a term, I realised that teaching was the obvious career for me.

Personal Approach:

Having been in a classroom teaching 7-11 year olds I feel I know what keeps a child's attention and what does not. Although I might not always get this right, I am able to evaluate the situation and change my angle to make sure the child stays focused.

Another aspect I feel is integral for teaching is using interactive features and getting the children to learn actively.

Online tutoring is an exciting and modern approach which I believe could be perfect for young children who enjoy using technology. For example, from my classroom experience, the moment a child is allowed to use the whiteboard is when they are much more focused. After a little guidance on using the program I am certain they will enjoy more technological and interactive lessons.

What I do when not tutoring:

When not tutoring I enjoy being outside, playing tennis and walking in the country side. When it is raining, I enjoy getting creative with my millinery hobby - making hats and fascinators.
