I was brought up and schooled in Surrey until going to Radley, where I was college captain of cricket and had an Academic Exhibition.

I was top All Round Scholar at Epsom College where I was also captain of rugby and cricket. A real highlight was captaining our rugby team to winning the national Daily Mail Cup, the final of which was at Twickenham.

I have also played representative (county & South of England) rugby and cricket. After university I spent 2 years trying to play professional cricket, during which time I was a trialist at Worcestershire County Cricket Club and played semi-professionally in Australia and New Zealand. I currently play cricket for the MCC.

I have a great heart for the work of the church and charities; I currently volunteer for two charities in London and am doing an internship with St George's church, Holborn.

I am a hard-working, friendly and enthusiastic person who has a passion for teaching and helping bring the most out of people.

Personal Approach:

With 4 years of tutoring experience, I have come to realise that in order to bring the best out of my students, it's important to tailor my approach specifically to the skills and character of every student.

With 4 years of tutoring experience, I have come to realise that in order to bring the best out of my students, it's important to tailor my approach specifically to the skills and character of every student. I therefore always take the time to get to know and build a good relationship with my students before putting together a comprehensive plan as to how to achieve our aims.

I have had to use a number of different approaches over the years, so I will always be adaptable to suit the needs of each student. I am also always committed to keeping my sessions fresh and engaging, so will often employ different teaching strategies over the course of my time with a student.

As I have always had numerous extra-curricular commitments, I have had to learn how to manage competing demands on my time. This has been a valuable lesson to learn, so I will always encourage my students to take responsibility of their commitments and plan accordingly; something that becomes increasingly important as students progress through education.

My caring, motivated and fun nature seems to work very well with all my clients, so I work hard to ensure that these attributes guide my approach, regardless of the student.

Testimonials:

Alex is a fantastic tutor. He is kind, patient and has a wonderful approach when working with children. During his time with us, Alex was always professional, punctual and well organised for his sessions. He always followed up with a detailed report after each session, which was very helpful. Our son actually looked forward to his sessions, which was impressive for a sports-mad young boy! As a family, we are very fond of Alex and now consider him to be far more than a tutor as he's become a family friend.
