What are the benefits of ARCH online tutoring compared to face-to-face tutoring?

ARCH Online Tutors offers you much needed flexibility to balance your busy schedule with the need for superior one-on-one academic help by connecting tutors right to your home. All you need is a computer with video capability and an Internet connection to start. With features such as live audio and video streaming, chat, and numerous editing and writing tools, you’ll soon be immersed in this interactive learning experience.

Furthermore, an extensive study by the U.S. Department of Education on the effectiveness of online learning showed that students who combined online and face-to-face elements to their education learned better than those who only learned face-to-face.1 For more information on online learning and education trends, please check out our blog.

Tutor Quality

Who are ARCH Online Tutors?

We take tutoring seriously with one of the most rigorous screening processes in the tutoring industry and an acceptance rate of less than 10%. Beyond academic and character evaluations, we assess our prospective tutors’ abilities in lesson planning and effectiveness in delivery.

With our selection process, we have hand-picked over one hundred top tutors. Our team is comprised of seasoned teachers, professional tutors and recent graduates from top institutions including Oxford, Cambridge and the Ivy League.

Our dedication to tutor quality does not stop there. Once on board, tutors have access to our tutor training program on topics ranging from general pedagogy to subject-specific training. This key element is delivered by our experienced full-time teaching professionals and/or preeminent teachers and leaders from the top UK independent schools, whose expertise has been formed over decades of experience in the classroom.

Does ARCH Online Tutors screen tutor backgrounds?

Absolutely. Beyond this, our tutors are required to give us two references which we then verify independently of the tutor.

Do ARCH Online Tutors follow a set lesson plan?

No. Our tutors create entirely bespoke lessons that are specific to your academic needs. Of course, they are extremely well-versed in the particular exam board and, the more information you can include in the tutor request when signing up, the better.

Tutors and Career Opportunities at ARCH Online Tutors

How do I become an ARCH Online Tutor?

Please email your CV and cover letter to tutors@arch-education.com for consideration. Besides the essential background checks (Enhanced DBS, verifying qualifications and collecting references) the selection process is as follows:

  1. Tutors submit an application and are judged on their experience, how long they can commit for (we only take tutors who can commit for over two years), and their academic record.
  2. All tutors we take on are interviewed twice: an academic interview and a character interview with a mock lesson.
